Top Two Baby's Grooming Essentials

As a pregnant mom nears her due date, you will typically find her busy preparing for the birth of her beloved bundle of joy. And so before the stork makes his delivery, mom already has assembled a collection of cute little shirts, shorts, pajamas and perhaps, some pink dresses, if a baby girl is expected. Other than clothes, mom and dads must have their supply such as a pack of diapers, a small bottle of baby oil and a must have, a bottle of liquid mild gentle soap to bath the baby with.

As with adults, babies need their daily dose of bath to keep them clean and fresh. However, there is more to keeping the baby well groomed than just by giving her a bath every day. Here are some of the necessary tools and paraphernalia that a mom should keep in her baby's grooming kit to keep her little princess or little prince looking pretty or handsome as they should.

* A soft brush and fine toothed comb. There are babies who come into this world without an inch of hair, looking all clean but still every bit cute even with their bald heads. And there are babies who have started growing their hair in the womb and come out to show off some great mane when they are born.

Whatever the case, a comb is as much part of a baby's grooming kit because hair will always growing its way from the baby's head. In selecting a comb, choose one that has soft bristles that will not only brush your baby's hair in place but also give her head a soft massage. Check that the comb has smooth and rounded teeth that will not scratch your baby's head.

* Nail cutter or nail scissors. Most women would like for their nails to grow fast so that they can fashion them into French tipped nails or shade them with the most stylish nail polish. Quite the opposite for babies.

Babies need to have shorter nails as possible. This is important to remember especially for new parents for the reason that babies can unconsciously hurt themselves by being scratched or cut with their sharp nails. As babies still have to develop their common sense and their faculties, it is the parent's responsibility to look out for them and looking out means taking time to trim their nails on a regular basis.

It would be best for you to use nail clippers that are manufactured for your baby's nails and have the industry's quality and safety standards. Most mom and dads will find that nail trimming is a difficult activity as babies tend to be fussy and they tend wiggle a lot when you are cutting their nails. And so it is best to cut their nails when they are sleeping.

You could sing to your baby or talk to her during trimming as a mother's voice has been proven to be soothing. Also it is advisable to do your nail cutting after the baby takes her bath as her nails are softer during this period.
